(Where has Krystal been? Spoiler alert, I had my baby in August! It’s been three months and I am just now figuring out things again. I also have taken a pretty big break from some social media sites and blogging because as a new mom I am trying to figure out where to spend my energy. Like, my alone time energy. Turns out I really like looking back at my old posts. I also have contemplated starting a Youtube channel instead of a blog because I miss video so much, but once again, this new mom doesn’t have a lot of time. I’ll figure it out, right?)
My sister, step-mom, and sister-in-law threw my the cutest shower in the entire world. I had it when I was 36 weeks pregnant. It was a pineapple theme. The decorations were adorable, the food was delicious, and the company was the best part!
I feel so blessed and loved. I am so grateful for all of the support and love that we’ve received throughout this entire pregnancy.
These gals were pretty much the only two I invited that weren’t related to me. They are like family though. I love them and they spoiled me rotten. Camille made the most beautiful quilt for our little girl and Lori gave us the best high chair.
I am 39 weeks pregnant tomorrow. I knew that pregnancy got harder towards the end, but I never knew it got this hard physically. Every day I go to bed with sore hips and a sore back. Multiple times a day I have to lay down. I mentally go through this thing where I want the baby to come just so I can be done being pregnant, but then I think, “what do I do when she does come?…She will be our responsibility. Are we ready?” So, I am okay with the pain in all my nooks and crannies. Plus, I know that I have 1-2 weeks left tops.
Please be patient with me. I used to blog once a month about our lives and I stopped the second I started throwing up multiple times a day due to a little baby girl. I may or may not backtrack. I had this in my drafts so I am going to post it.
One of my favorite traditions around Thanksgiving and right before Christmas is Christmas tree hunting. We go almost every year and find the perfect tree. This year for Christmas Robert and I went to Hawaii from December 16-December 31. So we weren’t sure if it would even be worth it. But I had to decorate. I am so happy we did.
This year we got our trees as a Rasmussen family. It didn’t take us too long and it was a really fun experience. If you’ve never Christmas tree hunted you need to try it at least once.
Oh and I was totally pregnant here, I just didn’t know it yet. It’s so crazy to think that we will have a little one with us this year. I think it will be even more special with kids.
You guys! I am 35 weeks pregnant. I am so close. I can’t believe it. I am so grateful and excited. I would like to say I’m ready, but are you ever ready? We have been getting prepared. I have 2 baby showers next week and I feel so blessed and loved. This little girl is very loved by a lot of people. I am excited to meet her.
Holy goodness! I am 30 weeks pregnant. The 2nd trimester flew by and now I’m over here in the 3rd trimester with hips that ache and a back that can’t get comfortable at night. Oh and our baby girl will be here in 10 weeks. I am far from ready, but I am so excited.
Symptoms: Charlie horses. Like what in the literal h*ck. I feel like at night I wake up multiple times to roll to another side or to pee. When I finally fall asleep I wake up to the worst charlie horses. A few fellow tweeters told me to eat more bananas and to drink a lot more water. I also am trying to drink a glass of milk a day.
How far along: 24 weeks
Symptoms: Lower back pain
Nicknames/Names: We haven’t picked a name yet, but we have a front runner.
Best moment of this week: Hearing baby girls heartbeat again. Everything is healthy and she is growing so well…so am I 🙂
Miss anything: It’s getting more difficult to do normal tasks. The other day at church I was sitting down and I tried to grab my purse and I couldn’t. Also, it’s becoming more difficult to put my pants on.
Movement: Baby girl is a mover. She loves when I eat and when I lay down. She also loves when her dad puts his hands on my belly and talks to her.
Maternity Clothes: I recently bought 4 dresses from Walmart. I went maternity shopping at Target and I attempted to buy pants. They didn’t fit me right and I kept thinking, “I only have 4 more months of this and it will be in the heat of summer. I think I want dresses.” Walmart maternity dresses are literally $10. I bought 4 and I love them. Some of my pants still fit me with my maternity bands, I’m sure I’ll buy more shirts and pants later.
Food cravings: Soda pop. I never drank soda before I was pregnant, but I think my body is craving sugar/caffeine because I am so tired. I don’t give in to my craving, but I still want it.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Red sauce pizza
Have you started to show yet: I am definitely showing. However, I still have to tell people I am pregnant. I think they are just being courteous.
Looking forward to: I want her to keep growing healthy and strong, but I am so excited to meet her.
How far along: 20 weeks
Symptoms: If I do too much I get so fatigued. I am trying to exercise throughout my entire pregnancy and I’m learning to just do what I can. If I walk or stand for a long time I try and take breaks because of my hip/ back pain. I think those are my only symptoms right now. Besides the frequent urination all.night..long 🙂
How far along: 16 weeks and 5 days
Symptoms: I am trying to walk 10,000 steps a day and my back and hips have been hurting like crazy. (This walking thing started during the 2nd trimester. I maybe went to the gym 2 times in the month of January). I also have been getting a few headaches. And my nausea and throwing up stopped for a full week, but then I threw up 3 times in 24 hours. But even with the “symptoms” momma is happy and baby is happy!
Nicknames: We asked our niece Maddie what we should name our baby and she said Rooster. So we call the baby Rooster.
I could not for the life of me think of anything to write for my October Here and There update. So, I decided to combine October with November. Also, I get it… I know it’s February! 🙂
My grandma Theresia and Grandpa Maurice knew how to celebrate the holidays. I found these old photos and it brought back so many memories of going to their house every Halloween to eat chili burgers (sloppy joe’s), orange jell-o, and homemade buttery rolls. I miss them and I want to be more like them in every way. Also, can we talk about how I was Barney for Halloween. It was probably one of my most favorite costumes as a child.
TeAnna dressed up like someone from Beverly Hill Billy’s and there is the Baby Bob to my Barney.
I haven’t updated my book list in so long. I am going to keep my book reviews short and sweet. All of the books are linked to the Amazon description. And I found all of these at my local library. I have been reading a lot of YA. :/ In fact, the entire list is YA except for one (insert monkey covering eye emoji) I guess the summer makes me feel young and restless. Some of the books below have been some of my favorites of the year.
Stars Above is the final book of The Lunar Chronicles. It is a collection of short stories about new characters and some of my favorite characters. If you have read The Lunar Chronicles you need to read this.
